The World Cup 2010 Mega Event

Well, this is the first time that I write the blog so today I will tell about the World Cup 2010 International tournament.

The World cup was organized by FIFA (Federation International de Football Association). The tournament has every 4 years. The World cup was the most popular sport around the world. The most championship was Brazil in 5 times.

In this year, The World Cup 2010 starts in 11 June - 11 July at South Africa (the first African nation to host the World Cup), The 19th of FIFA World Cup Tournament from the beginning of 1930. They are 32 Teams from 6 confederations and separate to eight groups that qualification of the zone continents such as Europe zone consists of 13 teams, Africa zone 6 teams, Asia or Oceania zone 5 teams, Concacaf zone 3 teams and South Africa zone 5 teams.

The official Mascot in World Cup 2010 is Zakumi, the leopard with green hair. His name is a composition of ZA (Zuid Afrika)and Kumi means "ten" in various African language, including Swahili. The color of mascot reveal of host nation, green and yellow and it shows of the African world cup tournament costume too.

Andries Odendaal from Cape Town who is the original creator designed of Zakumi, the mascot costume was produced by Cora Simpson in Boksburg. The birth of Zakumi was 16th June 1944, the first year democratic election of South Africa. He is young, ambitious, smart and energetic.




The Match Ball


Jabulani is the name of the match ball in World Cup 2010 tournament that
originates from the language of isiZulu (the one of official languages of the
Republic of South Africa that the population spoke almost 25%).


The meaning of Jabulani is celebrated that passionate football
celebration international fans will enjoy in Africa.

The design is four triangle-shaped elements on a white
background lend a ball unique appearance in African spirit.
These 11 colors represent the 11 players in every team,
the 11 official languages of South Africa and the 11 South African
tribes that make the country one of the most ethnologically
diverse countries on the African continent. The colorful design
brings together the tremendous diversity in harmonious
unity of the country.

The 3-D Panel shapes of the match ball FIFA World Cup 2010
features a completely new, ground breaking technology.
Eight 3-D Spherically formed EVA and TPU panels are
moulded together. The result is an energetic unit combined
with perfect roundness.

Frank Lampard: “A very strong ball, true to hit.”
Kaká: “For me, contact with the ball is all-important, and that’s just great with this ball.”
